Cannon COVID-19 Surge

Cannon County citizens are facing an unprecedented surge of COVID-19

This virus is real.  Many of us have tested positive, including my immediate family. The Tennessee Supreme Court has made masks mandatory in the courthouses of all 95 counties.

When this surge first became obvious, we closed the Courthouse temporarily so we could thoroughly clean and disinfect the building.  At this moment, we plan to reopen by the end of this week.  This decision is fluid; if the situation warrants further closings, we will make the decisions to best protect our employees and the public.

Further, we are continuing to maintain operations, and will if possible.  We are working to ensure we can lower the risk to the public.  Of course, any face-to-face or group events will always pose a risk.  Please be aware of these risks – maintain social distances and stay home if you are not feeling well.  We can set up virtual meetings, if necessary; and any business that can be handled via email or online should be handled in this manner.

I appreciate the patience that has been shown, thus far. I ask that everyone consider implementing actions that limit the spread. Please continue to maintain diligence to limiting the spread. I have faith and confidence in the citizens of Cannon County – we will get through this challenge and be stronger as a community for the way we handle any diversity that may arise.

v/r,

Brent
